The picture of the two browsers in the picture on that web page look like Netscape 4.0 & IE 3.0

The following quote, from the above URL, is the typical Microsoft fear mechanism, for the ignorant.

To be followed by several patches to fix the fix :)

not quite correct.

The patches will be to fix what the "fix" stuffs up.

Very. A bit OT I know, but how can I determine whether I have the latest update. Using the About... option under Help just gives me a list of files. No 'latest update' date or self-explanatory version number

Simply ignore Microsoft, and install a decent system. You can use Firefox (browser) and Thunderbird (email/news) on at least Mac, Linux, and Windoze. See mozilla.com.

I use Opera except for non-W3C compliant sites which may require IE.

Authors of HTML code that does not conform to W3C standards should be SHOT.

So, when the W3C change their minds AGAIN as to what conforms, all the people who conformed before the changes should be shot? And you call the US bloodthirsty.

I have been using Firefox for years now There are no websites I have used that need IE anymore.

This sort of thing is one of the reasons for the shift, apart from IE being in the stone age re; features compared to FF

The bizarre thing is that if you contact them and explain that their web page does not conform to standards, they will tell you that "it works fine with IE" as if that was the universal standard!!! Fortunately the companies I have to deal with, like the bank and credit card companies seem to understand that IE is not the only "true" web browser.

I have used FF for years also, however too many program launch IE without your control over it.

I heard more reports that the virus only affects Windozer V7.

I still encounter a few. Not sites that really are incompatible, but the ones that look at the user agent header and refuse to play ball with anything that is not IE. User agent switcher takes care of those and also adds the handy capability to appear to be a Google bot...

I suspect he has performed the complicated task of entering the URL and seeing if the resultant display appears to be coherent.
