flash part equivalent to 27c240

Anyone know if there is a flash memory part equivalent to a 27c240 EPROM 256k by 16 bits. For use with a 68302 micro.

You can find "equivalent" parts as far as capacity and speed go, (that is, bigger and faster,) but I don't think you can find anything that could just be swapped in. (Ignoring pinout / packaging differences.) Most current NOR Flash memories will work with 3.3 volts or less, requiring level translators to 5Volt. The erasure and programming procedures are totally different, of course, so any in-system programming will not work.

A quick search found, for example, the Samsung K8S6615ETD:

64 Mbit (4Mbyte x 16, the smallest they have,) with a 1.7-1.95 volt operating range. The lower address lines are multiplexed with the data lines. BGA packaging ....

You can get the original 27c240 here:

The Spansion S29AL008J comes a bit closer: 512k x 16, 2.7 - 3.6 Volt, TSOP, standard parallel interface. But still no drop-in replacement.

You can try SST.

They have Flash memory devices which are direct replacements for EPROMs. I use the equivalents of the 27256 devices.
