It has been a long time since I've done a '188 design, but IIRC, the Intel data sheet describes the differences between the embedded interrupt controller and the 8259.

And I also seem to remember that the difference (from a programmer's point of view) was "not much".

I use the 188ED and the controller is very similar with a few less registers. If you're familiar with the 8259, you won't have any problems.

Hai,

interrupts and 5 external interrupts. There is no such inialization register IW1,2,3,4.All it has is interrupt control register1,2,3.

I would like to know whether the interrupt operation of 80L188EB is same as 8259A.Is the blocks IRR,IMR,ISR,EOI are functionally identical with 8259A?

What is the fuction of vector generation logic present in EB?
