Any one for MISRA C++?

MISRA is going to look at doing a MISRA C++

Is anyone interested in being on the panel? They are looking for experienced industrial embedded C++ people rather than standards lawyers.

If anyone is interested let me know and I will pass your details on to the panel chairman. He was not silly enough to put his own e-mail address up on this request :-)

The main team will be fairly small (we found it is the most efficient way to get things done in the MISRA-C group) and preference will be given to those working in high-integrity embedded C++

It is planned to be a two day meeting each month for about a year. This is real work not a talking shop. The meetings are likely to be at/near MIRA on the A5 by Nuneaton (UK).

Yes it is UK based (as was MISRA-C) but I am sure that it will expand out for the reviews and RFC's. On MISRA-C both the SAE and JSAE (among others) were involved.

Before you ask why are they doing it... They are doing it because they were asked to look at it by various parts of industry and other bodies inside and outside the automotive world. It appears there is a practical need for it and not just in the automotive world.

Rants about MISRA, MISRA-C MISRA-C++ etc to snipped-for-privacy@nowwhere.com I don't have time for them.

How long did MISRA-C take before it was finished (if it is finished now) ?

MISRA-C 1 took about 5 years MISRA-C2 took about the same However the work was slow in the early days as there was a one day meeting every 3 months. Then it went to a two day meeting every three months and work speeded up a lot.

MISRA-C3..... well we are doing the test suite first and then the TC but we will probably have MISRA-C3 in about another 4 because we don't want to bring them out to quickly before the tool vendors have time to catch up. Also we get a good amount of feedback. IT is not much help to developers trying to hit a moving target.

The MISRA-C++ is different they have the method of working and framwork etc learnt on MISRA-C and a lot of base source material. They also want one meting a month so a year of MISRA-C++ will be like three years of MISRA-C

It is a new team on MISRA-C++ as the MISRA-C team are busy though the chariman for the C++ team is no the C panel (and has the support of the C panel)
