Sí señor, desde luego se lo ganan. Me da por culo por el tema de renovar cada año (supongo que enviarán un mail), pero no me parece nada descabellado pagar menos de 150 pelas al mes por un servicio como Dios manda.

Siempre y cuando incluyan binarios, que ahora no se soportan.

Si no es costoso, instalamos un server de news, en mi servidor, no hay problema. Hay 60GB de disco y 1000GB de ancho de banda mes. Incluso podemos instalar un servidor de IRC, para charlar en tiempo real, como dios manda, esto último es más sencillo, y si que lo conozco.

Que poco os envidio a los "estudiantes", yo hace (muchos) años que deje de perder el tiempo, empollando de memorieta cosas, que hoy en día, no me sirven para NADA.

Pues habrá que ponerse a ello, el de IRC es muy fácil de instalar. Además, podríamos tener ventajas adicionales, como volcar directamente los threads más interesantes a la FAQ del grupo.

De todas formas 10 euros al año, me parece una cantidad muy correcta. Yo no estoy dispuesto a pasar por la pesadilla que supone buscar un server de news, decente, que no cesure mensajes de otros servers, y que permita acceso a un mínimo de grupos.

El que yo tengo de ONO, como cliente, es una auténtica chufa, buena parte de los mensajes que se envían por el alemán no aparecen, y supongo que IDEM, de los que provengan de otros grupos. Que patética es esta guerra entre servidores, cerrándose las puertas unos a otros, "pa cortarse las venas".

Pues ese síndrome debe tener un nombre, porque yo de crío sacaba todo sobresalientes, fué llegar a estudios superiores, y terminar hasta los "guevos", de tantas chorradas.

Luego, resulta, que en la vida, las cosas que realmente resultan importantes, las termina aprendiendo uno mismo, en plan autodidacta.

The background: ===============

The tradition of running news servers at Freie Universitaet Berlin goes back as far as 1989 (historic keyword: "Methan"). The news service was open for external users ever since: Until 1992, there was no access restriction at all (as usual at that time). Later, a basic access management where IP numbers and domain names were added on request was established.

Starting with the CIS project (a third-party funded project of DFN) of ZEDAT of Freie Universitaet Berlin, the news service was expanded by the feature of registration for individual users in the beginning of the year 1998:

News.CIS.DFN.DE was born. (*)

After the CIS project was finished in mid 2002, the administrators kept this service alive by maintaining it mainly in their spare time. Since this was not sustainable in perpetuity, options on how to raise money from external people and institutions for the provision and maintenance of the service had to be researched and created. Several approaches to find sponsors for the service eventually failed, especially due to the lack of understanding by the potential sponsors for the nature of Usenet.

Since July 1th, 2003, ZEDAT offers - again in cooperation with DFN - news services to other research and education institutions for money (service name: "DFNNetNews"). In the course of this cooperation, the server name "News.CIS.DFN.DE" vested exclusively to DFNNetNews:

"News.Individual.DE" and "News.Individual.NET" are the new server names under which the service is available for the more than 250,000 external individual users that were registered since the beginning of 1998.

After a long evaluation and preparation period, the service will convert to a fee-based service for these external individual users effective from April 1th, 2005. We regret that it is no longer possible to offer this service free of charge.

We would be very happy if our service convinced its users of its quality and of the engagement of its operators during the many years of its existence so that they decide to stay our users even if the service is not free of charge anymore.

Tengo tarifa plana de Wanadoo por 10 euros al mes, 20 horas diarias. Ya sé que hay ofertas muy atractivas de ADSL, pero ya se saben todos los problemas que existen con los ADSL de otras compañías. La de 19 euros 128kbps se queda algo cara frente los 30 euros de 512kbps + llamadas locales. De momento voy a seguir así en espera de mejores ofertas.

Vaya, a mi me conecta a 52kbps, y cuando el P2P le da por bajar a tope deberías ver como corren los números XD. Sin embargo después de vivir las descargas en la uni, los ADSLs me parecen una estafa, y lo mío ya ni hablemos.

yo utilizo una cuenta gratuita de terra solo para poder acceder a las News, la verdad es que no es una maravilla pero funciona gratuitamente
