It's indeed weird. A time warp happened? :)

Not in my opinion. Several newsgroups seem to have a glitch that began about 7-17. I might expect a day or two to go by without a post to some of the less frequented groups, but what I'm seeing is a blackout.

What server are you using? I'm on astraweb and using their plain vanilla US server.

There are just tremendous amount of off-topic advertisements, very much like volcano eruption, ashes flying everywhere. (The Ark?)

Can you remember when was it all started?

Eternal-September and Google Groups.

began about 7-17 or 7-18

alt.hvac is also hit

Some of the religious and political groups seem unaffected, but they have so much traffic normally, that it would be hard to tell if half of it went away.

I haven't seen any references to it on Google so it may be localized.

I tried the European server on astraweb but there's no difference.
