Silicone Potting Compound

I need to quickly find some silicone potting compound. Do not want to order anything 'cause I need it today. Of course can't use regular caulk since it contains acetic acid. So how about fish tank silicone sealant? What else will work? I am potting the leads where they are soldered to a miniature microphone.

** Works fine.

** Two part Epoxy glue - like " Araldite ".

** Either of the above will do - but 5 minute Araldite is damn quick.

yeah, or any other neutral cure silicone (eg: roof and gutter)

Automotive body putty (but not the metal filled stuff), and other similar 2-part fillers as long as they don't shrink on conduct electricity.

Urethane based caulks.

If it's just for strain relief I think there's a locktite product also hot-melt glue. or an elastic product like vinyl flooring adhesive, or panel ahdesive

I've become a big fan of hot-glue for projects like this. Even allowing for the really long warm-up time of my cheapie glue gun, it's still way faster than waiting for any other type of glue to dry or set. It also has the advantage of being "tough"... strong without being brittle.

I've even used hot-glue to turn little "sky wired" circuits into durable finished projects, where looks aren't an issue.

How about if I narrow the field a bit and need: Tough Flexible Repairable Small tube Available from Target or K-Mart or the like.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

--What he said: hot glue. One trick: while it's still hot slide heat shrink over the area, then heat it up until glue oozes out of both ends, then it's neat and watertight.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I like some of the other suggestions better but another option to fit your specs is GB Liquid Tape, available in a few electrical colors and is at Home Depot and Lowes.
