Learn to use google or go out and buy an electronics magazine and look at the adverts.

The amount of general bits and peices I get from ebay sellers in the far east, paticular Hong Kong, has been going up for a while.

nicknamed "cheap plastic crap", cpc's low prices make them worth using despite dispatching random things instead of what you ordered often enough to be annoying and IC's arriving looking like they have been stood on despite three chips being sent in a 1'x6"x3' box.

not bad if they have what you want but dispatch the wrong parts by mail order often enough to be annoying.

If you live near a big city you may find an independant retailer in the area.

If you want to buy general parts like resistors, common transistors and diodes in large quantitys (UKP500+ minimum order) then there are various trade only suppliers like arrow

For semiconductors and connectors in production quantitys you buy them direct from the manufacturer or one of their authorised dealers.
