Diode test and identify

trying to fix AC/DC power plug.

I have a Diode that says: GW327 SR560

I THINK this is a Schottkty Diode.

Setting meter to Diode test, Im getting, 1.71 Forward and Reverse .171.

Normally on diode I know you should get 1 on reverse

Are these readings allowable or is the Diode Bad.

Thanks.

1.7v one way round 0.17v the other shows it's shorting.

SR560 is a 5A schottky rectifier diode with 60V reverse bias capability

Normally you get the out-of-range symbol in reverse, many meters display that as a "1" at the left and no other digits.

If those readings are made with the diode removed from the circuit, it's definately bad. else probably bad.

When I tried casting out nines I made a hash of it.

Well I took it out of Circuit and now its reading

Forward .171 Reverse 1

Soo I guess its good.

Schotkeys do have lower barrier potentials than normal diodes. A typical silicon diode has a barrier potential of between 0.6 and 0.7 volts; schotkeys less than half that so it seems slightly low but probably still good. You can always look up the datasheet for that particular diode and see what the Vf should be just to be on the safe side.

Thanks.

Fv seems to match.

Then it would appear that diode is fine.

Yep. Hard for anyone to help if you give us so little info.
