detecting mobile devices

Hi I am looking to build a circuit or to hack an existing device that can sense an incoming call or an out going call from a mobile device, from

5~4 meters

I was able to use normal gadget that blink when an incoming call is registered. The problem is that they don't work well with 3G phones like the Nokia

6630. Any ideas how can I build a circuit Or if there are existing devices on the market?

Thanks

1: find out what frequencies the mobile devices operate on, (I think 3G is 2.4GHz) 2: build (or purchase) recieverrs for those frequencies. 3: adjuste the sensitivity of the receivers (or antennas) to detect only nearby devices.
