Anyone has an experience with Fluke warranty as a second owner?

X-No-Archive: Yes

Hello all,

I have a Fluke 187 meter and for some reason, the reference temperature is off by 5=B0C. I know its got an adjustable user offset, but I don't find it normal for the meter reference to junction to be off by 5=B0C.

I found out that my meter was manufactured in Apr '04, so it would still be covered even under their old 3 year warranty. The problem is that I'm a second owner and I don't have the original receipt.

Anyone else have experience with Fluke warranty as a non-original owner?

Also, if they approve the repair, do they correct just that problem and am I on my own to ensure I pay for the calibration and make sure it still meets the specs after the repair in other functions?

Thanks.

Fluke warranty policy:

" What is "Limited Lifetime Warranty"?

This is basically the same limited warranty currently provided with our Fluke 20, 70 and 80 Series DMMs, expanded from 3 years to a Lifetime.

In what way is the warranty limited?

  • It does not cover battery or fuses. * It does not cover abuse or usage outside of specifications. * It does not cover normal wear and tear of mechanical parts. * It covers the LCD for 10 years only (state-of-the-art for LCDs). * It covers original user purchaser only.

Why should a customer register for this Lifetime Warranty? We are asking all customers to register now, to avoid having to show proof of purchase for warranty work years later. You can register on-line by just clicking here. "

you should contact their service department on this. it the only way to get the true answers.

any meter repair 'should' include calibration.

Why?

How? That could be better evidence than any reciept if it's stamped on the unit somewhere.

You don't say where you live, but local laws may provide you with a better warranty than the manufacturer's voluntry one (although in the UK, you would need at least some proof of purchase).
