Hi,
What capacitor should I use on my AC adaptor to boost 4.5 voltage to 5 volt or a
resistor to get it from 6 volt?
I know the theory but I would rather not test it on my ipod;-)

Thanks,
Andrew

What's the highest current the IPOD draws and over what DC voltage
range will it operate satisfactorily?

What makes you think a capacitor can 'boost" voltage?

Just try the 4.5V as it is, it will probably work.
