Yeah BUT! Do you like my new Spice transformer Model?

It's not as if I bust my butt working it out without expecting a bit of feedback so I could preen myself.

I don't think he's going to show you. Let's see if this works:

Hey, Genome, I'll show you mine, if you show me yours.

Thanks, Tony!

I'm only an occasional user of LTspice. When I try to load that LTspice barfs over the symbols. It seems incomplete or needs separation??

Sigh.... That will be because I'm being crap.

There are four parts (Each starts off with Version4)

A winding model, cut and paste it into notepad and save it as winding.asc A winding symbol, cut and paste it into notepad and save it as winding.asy A core model, cut and paste it into notepad and save it as core.asc A core symbol, cut and paste it into notepad and save it as core.asy

Place the files in the same directory that you save your schematic in. (There might be some other way of having them appear within LTspices common libraries.)

When you place a component change the Top Directory to your working directory and you should find winding and core. Place a winding and a core on your schematic. If you right click on them them you will be able to open the underlying schematics and see the mess inside.....

As I burbled before....

"What you do is dop down some windings for your transformer, right click on them and give them parameters for RT, resistance of a turn, and N, number of turns.

Then you dop down a core and give it parameters for Uo (4*PI*1E-7) Ae, Le, Ue and Bs (saturation flux density).

Tie all the Hf and Dbf terminals together and away you might go.

Does inductors too. Just use a single winding and core, give em your guesses and Hf and Dbf together."

It might/should be able to do leakage effects if you bugger up some way about how currents get steered into Hf on the core and voltages get delivered back to the Dbf pins. Something like that. That's too complicated for my little brane though.

Whooops! You have to explicitly set the series resistance of L1 used for differentiation in the core model to 0, Rser=0. Otherwise LTspice gives it a minimum value and messes things up.

PSpice doesn't do that ;-)

Does Old Age make you comfortably predictable....?

Having prodded further sticking things together for a transformer as suggested gives some strange results.

I suppose Pspice doesn't do that either.

By the way... That's not an invitation, I'll figure it out sometime.

Have you looked at the Jiles-Atherton inductor-coupling model?

If it involves a couple of Woosters in tweed suits trying to decide whose foreskin goes over whoms for a bit of docking then it's unlikely.

FFS, it's not as if Giles knows how to spell his own name. How bad can that be?
