I have some ideas...

Unplugging the hard disk is very effective. :P

Maybe install a car alarm in your computer and use a key fob to turn on your hard disk. D from BC

Just encrypt like this:

An alien comes to earth in his flying sourcer, starts reading Usenet, sci.electronics.design, and finds it all very interesting.

He prints the google archive out, and finds he has no space for all those processed trees in his little sourcer, too heavy for liftoff.

So he takes the decimal ASCII value of each character in the text, chains it all together into one big number, then then does 1 / number. This gives him a ratio.

Then he takes a stick, puts a mark at that ratio from the end, and takes the stick back to his own planet.
