I would keep the package and the drone quadcopter. I don't see it dropping the package from the air, so stealing the machine is a real possibility.

Time to design a quadcopter trap. I wonder what can be used for bait?

Why not? UPS does it.

They could be skittish, or have self-defense mechanisms.

Same way you got that pizza delivery guy..

Presumably, it can be talked to (remotely) and, as such, talk back. And, probably has a camera onboard for remote piloting (?) Would be awful easy to *watch* and *record* the events leading up to its capture (probably worth doing regardless to defend against complaints that a package wasn't delivered, drone damaged the house, etc)

*Lady* quadcopters??

That would be good. My office is on the second floor, and I could take deliveries by opening a window.

Someone here in the Phoenix area took offense at such a mini-copter hovering over his back yard, so he shot it down with a shotgun. Turned out to be a police drone. The police arrested the guy, but a judge tossed the case, citing privacy rights ;-) ...Jim Thompson

Well, this is going to be a while! I doubt 4-5 years. First, they have to make the quadcopters have enough range to carry more than a stick of gum several miles and make its way back to the depot. So, much better batteries will be needed.

And, then the real problem comes up. When there are huge swarms of these things humming all over the city like a swarm of bees, they are going to have to avoid each other. If you think about the swarm of UPS and FedEx trucks that already deliver tons of packages each, that translates to a MASSIVE number of quadcopters. Instead of computer-aided routing to figure out the best route to deliver several hundred packages per truck, each copter goes out and back, ONE PACKAGE at a time!

Well that's just it, the current delivery method is to use this high capaci ty truck which is not an efficient means when the majority of the load is l ight weight. The 10 mile range probably means a truck delivery to optimal l ocations for drone distribution into the area. I don't think collision avoi dance is going to be a problem, but the actually delivery seems like it may get complicated, like is the drone going to drop it down the chimney, bell y flip it into the front yard like a bomb, fly up to the doorsteps, or what is it going to do. Or maybe Amazon will make the customers buy a miniature helipad, an Amazone, for delivery, analogous to the Kindle for reading the ir eBooks. These drones, especially the copters, are dangerous for people t o get near.

The police are using those now to pursue suspects who have taken off on foo t to evade capture. The drone is WAY better than putting real aircraft on t he scene. All the cop has to do is open his trunk, unfold the thing and lau nch it. They may be using them to snoop around looking for grow operations or something without probable cause, now that would be an invasion of priva cy.

Just hack in and fly it to your warehouse, drop it's load, return to Amazon for next delivery. It should be good for a few days till they get customer complaints about non delivery. Of course their computer will say it was delivered, if your hacking is better than the governments webpage development. Mikek

The website is up and running as well as can be expected in such a short ti me, well enough to shut up the anarchist Republicans in Congress. The overs tuffed bureaucratic govt riffraff were trashed off the project, and a resul ts oriented private sector contractor took over *everything*. Don't want to see the bill for that one, I'm sure it will run a premium because they did everything possible to include hardware upgrades across the board, as well as present and future software development and maintenance plans that were n't so cheap either. But, as expensive as it will be, at least they deliver ed a product, which is infinitely better than the previous govt (mis)manage d fiasco, recall that anything divided by zero is infinity.

Four years is not a short time.

The problem isn't the web site. That's just the obvious evidence that government is incapable of any large project.

So you admit that government is incompetent. You forget, however, that all of the health "insurance" web sites in the world don't guarantee health *care*. That's going to be the real scandal. The evidence is already clear (to anyone not blinded by Obamunism).

You will.

Do note that not one penny of that expense buys a single aspirin.
