SLA issue

I have a 12v SLA that looks like it has a shorting cell. The output of the main 24v output falls over badly in under 5% of rated ampacity, and I'm thi nking this may be fully or largely due to the one bad cell. New batteries a re about to be ordered, but in the meantime wondered if there was a way to hard short this cell, and whether it is somewhat likely to result in a usab le battery pack as a short term measure. I was thinking something gold plat ed jammed between the plates - maybe just hacking the case open & adding le ad wedges would be required. Any input welcome.

You might wanna wear eye protection if you start jamming metal into a battery.

Bang a screw into the connecting bar for your 10v battery terminal

That's the 2nd option, hack the case apart.
