Samples Size

What is the "friendly" number of samples to order for very cheap samples such as connectors, switches, and such from plays as molex? < 5, < 20, < 50, etc...?

I generally get a few parts so I can check out the quality and design a bit better but I'd like to get a larger range of things when I sample. I usually just get 2 or 3 parts and sometimes this is just a total of 1(male + female

  • crimp terminals). Almost too small to even ship so I wouldn't imagine them getting their panties in a wad if I got more?

If you can convince the sales rep or factory rep that there is a high probability of you producing millions of your product, containing their product, I'm sure you could get as many samples as you needed for engineering models and prototypes.

If you can't convince them you will be producing millions of your product, then you may have to be happy with; sample quantity: one.

When I ask for engineering samples, I am surprised if the company sends more than quantity; one.
