Hello How can I charge a rechargeable battery in the lab, what's the 'reverse connection'?

** You use the normal connection - ie positive battery terminal goes to positive terminal of the charger.But the charger has to have higher voltage available than that of the battery.
Plus, you need to add a resistor in series with the DC supply to limit current flow.
The charging reaction commences immediately and the voltage on the battery can be seen to gradually rise on a sensitive volt meter.
What happens next depends entirly on the kind of battery, its size and the current flow you set up.

i have another question,
-i have to charge two 1.2 v batteries, do i connect them in series and then the free positive terminal to the positive of the charger and so the negative?
-and how do i know the limit of the current?

** No surprise......** Series is OK.
** Gotta know all about the particular cells for that one !!
The maker's web site usually has the info - or it may be written on the cell's jackets.

What sort of battery (NiCd, NiMh, Lithium, lead-acid, etc)?

I'm wondering if any of those battery chemistries can be safely charged by temperature monitoring.. Assume one doesn't have datasheets and doesn't care about charging damage..(Survivor Man does battery charging... ) I dunno...let's say charging up to an external battery temp of 40C???
