Verizon pretty much stopped rolling out FiOS to consumer customers several years ago; their focus is on cellular/WiMax now and any fiber they're laying now is in support of that or for business.
Here's the 21st century high speed broadband internet we got for all billions in tax breaks/subsidies/whatever you want to call it, lol:
