Re: Inductor Dumb Question of the Day

Is it possible to get a 1.2uH inductor that's still inductive at

The Piconics parts run in the microhenries and are high impedance to

10's of GHz. Minicircuits makes some cheaper wideband inductors and bias tees, too.

We've stacked inductors, starting with tiny ones, then ferrite beads, then bigger axial parts. One typically adds resistors across the bigger ones to kill resonances.

for a diplexer you don't need 1.2uH at 600MHz, you need 1.2uH at 10 MHz and some high enough impedance at 600 MHz. You are on the right track, a 1.2 uH in series with a smaller inductor seems like what you need, perhaps a cap to ground at the junction.

Awwwwh! I wanted to try winding my own conical ;-)

kind of reminds me of the chokes we use at work on a machine to remove any possible resonance from the choke. multiple segmented so that we can achieve our inductance of interest with out a problem with SRF>
