Panasonic DECT on Hook inactivity Timeout

I have a KX-TG7641 DECT phone that works pretty good. I just discovered it can pre dial an area code!, great for FIOS. But, one problem is that it is easy to leave it on hook if you don't press OFF. This is kind of silly, I looked through the manual and don't see a timeout for it at all. Did I miss something? Perhaps I should add a one shot triggered by voice activity that would send a pulse to the OFF button if its left on Hook.

Cheers

** The term "on-hook" means the phone is off and waiting for a call.

** All the cordless phones I have seen are the same.

You have to push "OFF" or put them in the charging cradle to get an " on-hook" condition.

Thanks, I meant Off-hook. Still, if you don?t place it in the charging cradle, it may never go on-hook for hours.

It does eventually though when it runs out of battery power.

It seems to me like the phone could sensibly drop the line after 10 minutes or so with no sounds on either end.

I once had a very annoying early pre-DECT wireless phone which did not drop the line if you put it back in the charging cradle without first pressing the red end_call button. It was a disaster.

It also had lousy range in a brick walled house and the thermal fax paper for the base station was extortionately priced into the bargain. This was the final straw after junk faxes became all the rage.
