did you catch what the dealers/recycling yards have to do with the clunkers after turn-in? they must drain the oil,fill the crankcase with 2 qts of sodium silicate and run the motor until it seizes.

Cool, destroying useful vehicles. Economic stimulus. The more stuff we destroy, the better off we'll be.

Somebody figured out that the average car or truck replacement was actually costing about $25K, because most of the people who took the subsidy were going to replace their vehicle anyhow. The criterion for the subsidy was a 2 MPG improvement.

Democraponomics: spend trillions of dollars that we don't have to make all the problems worse.
