The hydrogen gas theory of reindeer flight is widely known but mostly discredited at this point, landing a hydrogen-filled reindeer on rooftops possibly with burning embers from chimneys flying about would be dangerous in the extreme.

More likely to be a form of magnetic levitation induced by favorable field conditions in the area of the North Pole. They're lofted up to high altitude and coast most of the way around the world to the various destinations; once landed the reindeer must blend back into the population and they return home on foot as a member of a herd of normal migratory pattern.

Once Santa's sled is unloaded for that stop and very light it's blasted back up to high altitude via RATO rocket (you might be able to hear it on Christmas Eve if you listen closely) and links up with high-altitude orbiting reindeer on standby for the return trip to pick up more gifts.

As long as the hydrogen stays inside the reindeer, no problem. AND when it's take-off time, all they need do is fart to get a rapid rocket-like take off power surge. Just what you need on a rooftop.

Not good for the reindeer that are to the rear... oh and Santa would not be liking Hydrogen assisted take offs much either.

Spirit deer and spirit Santa do not need Hydrogen to levitate. The presents and sleigh are the only 'load'.

Have you *ever* met the *real* Santa or one of his reindeer?

I have seen and met a lot of Santa's facsimilies, and some real reindeer, but they were not a 'Santa's Reindeer'.

So they are spirit. The presents still show up though.

Don't know what the Hydrogen is for. Star power maybe.

of course, several times.

Well yes, the real Santa comes here. He can't be there as well. :)

No, you have not. You have NOT *EVER* seen the real Santa.

It only takes about 20 seconds to drop off a lump of coal, Mr. Grinch, that's why you never seen him.

I'll have you know he comes here every year. It is you who have only seen impostors.

And re the farting, it's like garlic, not a problem as long as they all fart at once.

Santa Claus died a long time ago. It is his spirit and the spirits of his reindeer whom carry the sleigh and the gifts we all get, and any 'Santa' you ever saw dropping off gifts was SPIRIT.

That is how they move so fast. They levitate the payload.

Hmm. I'm not so sure but admittedly I have seen many people recieve spirits as christmas gifts.
