One topic that has come to interest me lately is mass delusion. I see it in big companies, in the sciences, in national populations, in politics, in journalism, in academia. There is something in human nature that leads to dynamic drift towards concensus in preference to reason.

Price's Law says that in any organization of N people, the square root of N do half the work. Larkin's Corillary is that the fourth root of N (a handfull in even a giant enterprise) are rebels who defy the concensus, who break things and invent things. I know a few people like that. Part of their power is maintained through fear that they never tried to acquire and don't want; the herd just naturally fears people who dare to break the rules. Trump is a rule breaker; Hillary wasn't.

Of course, everyone should read Mackay's book from 1841

which involves the same dynamics. Lots of people being wrong together.

Human nature doesn't change. People need to learn critical thinking skills fast and start applying them even faster, or their children will be slaves in perpetuity.

There is no movement, just a bunch of loudmouths. You are in a different bunch, just as loud, and just as mouthy, so you should... respect that.

There is no impeachment in progress. All other speech on the subject is speculative hot air.

Why don't you try a country you'll like more.

Guh there's nothing worse than some 100% mainstream establishment old-timer going on about what a rebel they are or used to be. or how they're the only ones who ever had thoughts worth thinking as compared to the great sweaty mass of humanity who do nothing but take and don't appreciate them enough. Yawnnnnn. it's all very mainstream stuff. It's a packaged product well-known to most advertising departments that target the 50+ demographic.

Just buy a stylish $1800 set of leather jacket and chaps from a designer leather goods outlet and one of those huge-ass $35,000 touring motorcycles with a ton of superfluous lights and RF whip antennas on it and shit. Spend your golden years cruising around America staying at luxury hotels and marveling at how rule-breaking and iconoclastic the process all is...

I endeavor to not call people very meaniehead on the Internet that I wouldn't say to someone in real life. I may have opinions they don't like but that's different. I don't always succeed but I try.

There are lots of bad-asses on the internet, way more than I notice regularly in real life. I just sit contentedly knowing that the internet fashion of one never says the same things to people in the real world and uses the text-world as a form of fantasy escapism.

If they did the same in the real world regularly they'd have hardly made it to the age they are or at least very unlikely so. I've known guys who've tried to operate the same in the real world, operative word "tried."

Speaking of sex I think a lot of the anger one sometimes sees on display comes from a lack of it. What kind of man sleeps with a beautiful young woman and then hops on the Internet to call someone they don't know a s*****ad? Very few. Very few I figure.
