Understood. My point was that the things that make a house survive hurr icanes or tornadoes are not all that expensive. The changes are not visibl e and and relatively not expensive. I agree the houses sold as being hurri cane safe are probably expensive houses. But the increased cost due to th e increased strength is not all that much compared to the total cost of the house.

There is lots of information about building to resist hurricanes and tornad oes on the web. And there should be a lot more information in a few months after the results of Florida's upgraded building code are evaluated.

And don't forget , on TV you will only get pictures of houses destroyed by hurricanes or tornadoes. They will not broadcast pictures of houses with no damage.
