OT: Nothing to Worry About?

Good to hear you're recognizing climate change at last. Some folk were thinking you were out of touch...

Even President Trump is no longer in denial about global warming. Like most of the other things he said on the campaign, he is going to reverse himself on this.

It would appear to be too late for that. While we act to preserve species in the world that we simply need to stop killing off, it is much harder to take positive actions to end the destruction we wreak on life of this planet.

g

le the GRACE satellites measure the mass of the ice sheets.

ic ice sheet isn't how fast it is growing or shrinking, but how fast it is sliding off into the ocean. Sea level rise tends to happen quickly, when ic e sheets start sliding off fast, and in big chunks. That isn't happening in the Antarctic at the moment - what is happening is that the floating ice s heets around the continent are breaking up and floating away, removing th d am that was slowing down the glacial flows inland.

So far, nobody has talked about methane hydrates in the Antarctic regions.

He used to be a birther, and isn't now. Trump changing his mind is an obvio us part of the package - if he thinks he can get more votes by claiming to believe in anthropogenic global warming, that's what he will tell the elect orate.

Trump recited Hillary Clinton "has to go to jail" right up to the election. But not even two weeks after winning he said, ?It?s just not something that I feel very strongly about,? and ?I don?t want to hurt the Clintons, I really don?t. She went through a lot and suffered greatly in many different ways.? as well as the Clintons are "good people."

I seem to recall him actually saying this was just something he said while campaigning and he's no longer campaigning, or words to that effect.

Do you think he'll get reelected?

I guess if he runs again he will start telling more lies and enough people will believe him to get reelected. This past election shows how gullible some people are. We'll see if Trump can make a liar out of Lincoln.

THe stock market is up, the unemployment is at a 16 year low. He is going to get the individual income taxes simplified and reduce the corporate income taxes so American companies are more competitive.

The question is not if he will be re-elected. The question is whether Pence is going to be re-elected after he wins his first term.

You're irrelevance is astounding.

If he keeps going as he is. Absolutely. If the Rs in congress can get it through their heads that he's their path to reelection, the Ds will be absolutely crushed in the federal government, just as they have in the states.

You'll never learn.

Do you really believe either of these are due to Trump? He's only been in office for four months and much of what he has tried to do has been rejected by the courts.

So you are saying he will be driving up the US debt?

You mean after Trump is removed from office or after Trump quits because being President is not as much fun as he expected?

Yes I do. The stock market started going up after Trump won the election. And companies started to hire because demand is going up.

Obama ought to have been a great president, but he did not inspire confidence.

You must be much better at interpreting graphs than I am. I see the markets pretty steadily rising for the last 8 years, starting right around Obama's first inauguration.

So the markets tripled and quadrupled irrationally?

The stock market appeared to believe that Trump would deliver what he promised, rather ignoring Trump's business career which is littered with bankruptcies where Trump promises failed to deliver.

Having to deal with consequences of the GFC did cut into the aura of invincibility.

What's irrelevant about pointing out that Trump is persistently "inconsist ent".

Impeachment is a lot more likely.

just > as they have in the states.

Donald Trump won one election with 46.2% of the vote when his opponent got

48.1% of the vote (but not in the right states to win).

Nate Silver puts his current approval rate at 39% approve, 55% dissapprove, which is remarkably poor. Granting that the Tea Party put up even more app alling candidates than Donald Trump for the last election, he might be the Republicans best path to re-election, but he can't be seen as good one.

there was the day when the jets could not take off at Sky Harbor because it was 122F and the take off thrust settings charts that the pilots use went up to only 120F.

Nobody local would take responsibility for the extrapolation. They had to wait for the official numbers from Boeing.
