OT: "Naturally, Berky was driving a Prius..."

The Prius has been selling well for years, and nobody except Cursitor Doom has ever complained about their performance (and neither he nor Jim Thompso n would ever have driven one).

One of our acquaintances drove one for years and didn't complain about it. He hasn't got it any more, but he'd got it under a complicated arrangement with his employer, and it went away when he stopped being director of the a cademic unit involved - being director is a thankless task, and gets passed around between the eligible academics, who all recognise that somebody has to do it, but hope that it isn't them.

Same sort of thing happens here, too. Seems drivers - innocent or not - have become an essential revenue stream for the courts to bleed dry. If they did away with all their speed cameras and speed traps they'd have to raise taxes to make up for the resulting shortfall in public funds.
