OT: Can you say, "Gerrymander?"

I spend idle time sitting here trying to be a political activist by forwarding all kinds of political stuff to everybody I can think of; there was a recent issue about breaking the union stranglehold on the economy by not letting them deny employment to those who don't want to have their union dues to get liberals elected. (the Right to Work act). So, I sent a copy to my Congresscritter, Linda Sanchez. While tracking down an email address for her, I stumbled on this map of her congressional district:

I learned about Gerrymandering in elementary school (back when they actually taught stuff besides communist propaganda and "self-esteem"), but I had no idea it could be that bad!

It might be an interesting experiment - you can go to

and look up your congresscritter and your district.

Ouch, that is one bad job of drawing the lines... The overwhelming corruption in our government is causing more damage than anything else--and this is a prime example of just such corruption.

Seems my Congresswoman is your Congresswoman's sister Loretta Sanchez,

47th district. Loretta and Linda Sanchez are sisters. I must be your neighbor down here in Anaheim. But the Gerrymandering doesn't look as bad for Loretta as Linda since Loretta only has Anaheim, Garden Grove, parts of Fullerton and Santa Ana. I never voted for her since she stole the election from Bob Dornan using illegal votes. Dornan found a lot of illegal votes, but not enough to overturn the election.

Dornan of Orange County was an Orange County wingnut, arguably 2nd-place most anti-gay that US Congress had in its history behind his fellow in-his-time Orange County wingnut Dannemeyer.

So, what's your opinion of this:

"The use of federal money for abortions has been banned since 1976. The ban in Washington, sometimes referred to as the Dornan Amendment, goes even further, prohibiting the district from using its own money to pay for abortions for poor women."

You forget that Loretta Sanchez (Linda's sister) took B1 Bob Dornan's old GOP gerrymandered district. I forget who had Linda's district.

Look at the GOP gerrymanders of California's 11th:

This was purposely designed for a GOP seat by taking a chunk of the central valley and then adding enough of the bay area where the population wouldn't be enough to be significant. However the GOP s*****ad (Pombo) that had the seat got into serious ethics issues (no big surprise for a Republican) and McNerry took it over. Then the dopes in the GOP selected a psycho tea bagger named Harmer (no really, Harmer) that smelled so bad that even the GOP stronghold in the central valley couldn't put him over the top. McNerry was re-elected.

Let's hope the tea baggers pull the same shit again.

B1 Bob would have to improve to reach wingnut status. Republicans would vote for a turd if it had a R stamped on it, but geez, that whack job should have been run out of town years ago.

The USAF didn't want the B1, but Dornan got it made. It is still a plane looking for a mission.

I believe in Freedom of Choice, but abortions should be no more funded than any other elective medical procedure or PBS or NPR or the Crusades in the Middle East.

In fact, there shouldn't even _BE_ any such of a thing as "federal funding;" they _should_ leave the money in the hands of those who earned it, to spend as the owner sees fit. We should fire the vast majority of the Federal Government and cut it back to Constitutional levels.

We used to call him "B-1 Bob," for whatever that's worth.

When I think of a brain trust, I think of George W. Bush. Oh, then I think "opposite of".
