OT: Beady Eyes

"If you just accept that everything progressives say is a lie designed for the sole purpose of enhancing their power, your life will be a lot more pleasant. You are going to be able to relax, secure in the knowledge that you are not hearing things, that up is not down, that you are not crazy, because you understand that each individual syllable leftists utter is a self-contained capsule of pure deception. And once you embrace that reality, you will see clearly that as a conservative dedicated to truth, personal liberty, and our Constitution, your only course of action is to destroy their putrid ideology and crush their hideous pinko dreams before their beady eyes."

Most of the guys who routinely post this stuff have gone off on borderline domestic-terroist-threat rants about the kind of shooting spree they'd like to go on if there weren't so many pesky liberal laws; at that point I mean who even cares what they think is truth and what isn't.

Yeah I'm sure Dr. Evil quoted here and the Founding Fathers would've really hit it off well lol

You can't really be for "personal liberty" in an unqualified way and talk about crushing ideologies in the same sentence. It's kind of a "Death to those who call Islam a violent religion!" sort of situation.

At least not in any reality framework that's at all logically consistent.

So you have to qualify "personal liberty" a little bit. If you rewrite that very TLDR paragraph to essentially say "It really pisses me off when I can't always have exactly what I want and f*ck anyone who tells me I can't have what I want" then it makes a certain sense.

"Endgame: Plurality of Republicans now favor single-payer health care posted at 6:41 pm on April 6, 2017 by Allahpundit

More than a third of the public overall ?strongly favors? Medicare for all. Toss in the ?somewhat favor? group and you?ve got 60 percent of Americans ready to live the socialist dream.

The conservative movement is ovah."

So are we going to replace Obamacare by putting everyone on Medicare?

Thompson's point being to advertise his status as a right-wing half-wit, no whit different from krw? Jim probably won't accept that, since he has to k now that he is smarter than krw though his capacity for rational thinking a bout politics has to be equally crippled.

I must say that Kurt Schlicter's "Town Hall" post is a trifle bizarre, when the current incumbent of the White House is both right wing and prone to m aking inconsistent claims. Of course the Trump team's lies aren't just for the "sole purpose of enhancing their power". Quite a few of them are also a imed at making Trump look good from Trump's point of view.

Krw's babblings are moronic. Granting that he clearly isn't processing what's being said, he may well experience it as incomprehensible babble. That doesn't actually make it moronic - krw isn't equipped to make that kind of indentification.

The founding tax evaders were a well-intentioned bunch. Kurt Schlichter seems a bit too obviously partisan to have gone down well with them.

Medicare for

e got 60 percent of

As if the conservatives ever cared what the majority wanted. They count dol lar support, not voter support, and the Supreme Court keeps on insisting th at you can spend all the dollars you want to to buy voter support.

He forgot the part about "hear the lamentations of their women"! That's the best part!

"The U.S. Department of Justice concluded that Arpaio oversaw the worst pattern of racial profiling in U.S. history, and subsequently filed suit against him for unlawful discriminatory police conduct.[15]

On November 8, 2016, Arpaio lost re-election to Democrat Paul Penzone, who succeeded him as sheriff on January 1, 2017."

IIRR Jim Thompson thought highly of him. Something of an error of judgement.

I'm not a fan of Arpaio, but to say he "oversaw the worst pattern of racial profiling in U.S. history..." is a high bar to get over. Following footnote [15] to the New York Times does not get you to a single article, but a summary of all articles written about Arpaio. The footnote indicates a date for the article, but no article is listed with that date. It also mentions the author, Fernando Santos, and he has written a substantial number of articles critical of Arpaio. For May 10,

2012 you will find the .pdf of United States vs. Joseph M. Arpaio. It is a 32 page laundry list of bias and discrimination against hispanics, but no where could I find where the U.S. Department of Justice concluded that Arpaio oversaw the worst pattern of racial profiling in U.S. history. That bit seems to be an embellishment by either Fernando Santos of the New York Times, or the author of the wikipedia page.
