I just got one, an hp. I notice it finger prints well. There is still some glare, but I would never buy a shiny tv screen.

Dell makes matt screen laptops. I don't like the reflective surface myself. For a small screen, shiny is fine. You can aim it so you don't get annoying reflections. For a large screen, that is hopeless.

If you dig hard enough on the Dell website, you can be backlit keyboards, matt finished screens, daylight readable, whatever. The product line is extensive. The website is really crappy. Incidentally, the Dell refurbs are a great deal on the high end stuff, especially in this Bush Jr. economy. Corporations order some high end product, then they fire the person who was supposed to get the item, and it goes back to Dell as a refurb. The only annoying thing is you need to regularly watch for what you want to pop up. In my case, I'm sure the unit was configured stupidly. Who buys a 64 bit OS with 3G of RAM. Rather than just upgrade the ram, they sent it back. Dell has great online documentation, so the ram upgrade was very simple. The business notebooks are all modular, so you can pull the drive out of a bay, replace the optical with a battery or another drive, etc.

BTW, scorpius sounds like a relative of Phil Allison.

Thank, I will have a look. I also noticed Samsung is coming this month with new laptops, the standard now seems to be 1980 full HD, Bluray player (not writer) and core I7. Some have Nvidia graphics, some seem to have AMD radeon. Some somehow cram 17.1 inch in the same size as 15.6...

1980x1050 on a 15.6 inch screen is like high quality printing dots per inch wise. But even on their own site it is unclear what is matte and what not.

Thanks for the heads up on Spybot. I use SuperAntiSpyware instead now anyway.

Windows 7 doesn't need ANY third party programs!

I haven't used spyware or bot detectors since Vista, back in '03.

You guys are seriously behind the times.

Hey, I know! Let's take a poll.

What is your MICROSOFT footprint?

IOW, how many personally paid for MS products do you own?

Then, the second poll. Of you idiots that have 'free' copies of MS products... why? If they are good enough that you have to have them and use them, why not pay for them? After all, the only thing you have to care about is your honor.
