Both were spinoffs of the gumdrop business by people who didn't want to be bothered with analog parts. But the world needs gumdrop analog parts.

I hope ON keeps making the ECL logic too.

Well, they've been introducing BF862-class JFETs lately, which is nice. Some of them are old Sanyo parts, but some are new, and the new ones seem to have slightly better g_M * Ciss than the BF862. It's only a decibel either way, but potentially useful.

Did the Fairchild that came back out of National have anything in common with the one that went in, besides red databooks? (IIRC Schlumberger used to own the old Fairchild.)
