What's idiotic about a beautuful woman in a great dress, who knows how to solder?

Is there anything that you do like?

John Larkin's judgement of beauty is on par with his capacity to spell "beautiful". She's an attractive woman, but falls short of being beautiful.

And the dress is fine, rather than great. John does seem to be aesthetically inept.

Fred Bloggs does have his enthusiasms, but this didn't seem to have intersected with any of them.

John Larkin's lack of enthusiasm for custom wound transformers can't really be extrapolated to a distaste for electronics in general, though some might see it as a pons asinorum.

Are you gay, or simply 'gone off' attractive young ladies?

Birthday suit would have been 'great'.

I'm not gay, and I have met enough truly gorgeous young women to be able to populate separate categories with examples of the beautiful and examples of the merely attractive (who are rather more numerous), some of whom were remarkably attractive.

That may be a mode of dress, but there's no dress involved to comment on.

His tastes are defined by authority, or in this case anti-authority, not by any personal preferences. Or maybe he doesn't like Asian ladies. Or, as you suggest, any ladies.

I've always thought that, for best ESD protection, boards should be assembled by naked ladies sitting in grounded tubs of tepid water.

But that's just me.

Why do you think she is Asian? She said she is American.

There are lots of Asian Americans. "American" is not a race or an ethnicity.

She looks sort of Asian. Maybe not. She is cute and *can* solder.

That's pretty lame, John. So do you base all your judgements on looks?

Of course you can guess about ethnicity based on looks. She appears to have a high probability of some Filipino or Thai ancestry. And he said "maybe *he* [Bill] doesn't like Asian ladies", which can mean those who look asian whether they are or not.

Her videos are "Beauty and the Bolt." She is obviously promoting her looks.

That's fine with me; I don't apologize for having standard male hormones. Beauty and brains are independently good. It's nice to see a young woman (or these days, any young person) who's not afraid of electricity or machine tools. All high-school kids should have to take basic shop and electronics classes.

I wonder why John Larkin thinks that. I don't need any "authority" to know that Nicole Kidman (an Australian by the way) looks gorgeous, and I get to see her face often enough in the media to be aware that a lot of other peop le share my opinion (which is probably based on something in our genes). Sh e's definitely quite a bit more gorgeous than the girl in the video, but Jo hn Larkin may not be into quasi-quantitative assessments.

Gorgeous Asian ladies look gorgeous in a different way - as with Nicole Kid man, the underlying bone structure is unusually harmonious - and the lady i n the video looks attractive rather than drop-dead beautiful.

Not everboy's sweat contains enough salt to make them reliably conductive - or to leave finger-prints in clear silica when glass-blowing it.

Conductive fabrics are a more reliable path to ground, as anybody who knew more about the subject than John Larkin would be aware.
