Guys I can only say this a few times....I am not attempting to make some ty pe of xray device...really..does that make sense?! n't being very forthcoming is that if medusa gets killed doing this--which appears fairly likely--they don't want it to be their fault.

OK. My first assumption is that people mostly know what they are doing. (I could be wrong... :^)

Could we be held liable if he manages to injure himself?

All medusa's post have been deleted from google groups... so I can't look back.. (please don't bother re-posting... I'm not that interested.)

The fewer A-holes on SED the better.

I don't know. One sort of doubts he/she has enough assets that an overseas lawsuit would be likely. Given the hush-hush nature of the project and the high-energy technology, helping might even violate ITAR, for all I know.

We've had folks post here who really sounded like they were trying to build IEDs. (They might have been trolling, of course, but what's the point?)

But the main issue is not endangering life.

Most of them have been quoted, and they're all still on supernews, eternal-september, and aioe. Usenet providers stopped accepting cancel messages long ago.

Yeah, at least the crazies are sometimes amusing.

Cheers

This is even worse, that you don't understand that even if you don't intend to make an x-ray device, that is what you are doing. The voltage at the s park plugs is not the inherent danger. I've been zapped by auto ignitions many times, although your device may deliver a more powerful jolt and so be more dangerous.

The issue is the voltage will be 10's of thousands of volts which when appl ied to what you have drawn as an X-ray tube *will* generate X-rays. Heck, in the old days TV picture tube would create X-rays! Not a lot, but kids w ould sit right in front of the picture tube where they would be exposed to nearly all of them emitted.

Do you understand this design is going to create X-rays? Or is the schemat ic wrong and there is no tube as you have drawn it?

Mischaracterising a group on the basis of the behaviour of a few members is the essence of racism. It's as unacceptable as black-face, and for the same reasons.

Enough.

I'm pretty sure we're both the same race, dude. Try again.

Your total lack of humour is confirmed.

Whoosh. I wasn't accusing you of being racist, just of displaying the exact underlying behaviour that causes it: "Mischaracterising a group".

It's funny how people who are the butt of offensive jokes don't seem to share the humor.

Hint: your "joke" was actually not funny, except to people also prone to racist behaviour. Exactly like blackface.

My humour is evident to anyone who knows me. But this is not a humorous subject.

So your thoughts about conservatives, religious folks, and people who doubt "The Science Is Settled" climate pronunciamentos are racist then? Sauce for the goose, and all that.

Man, you're really descending into self-caricature. My poking gentle fun at other white guys is suddenly blackface? _Do_ go on.

Oh, it is, it is.

For an educated man you seem to be very poor at thinking. It is not prejud iced to consider the qualities of a group that is defined by having that qu ality. If your views are conservative it is not prejudiced to refer to you r as a conservative, merely a description of your beliefs.

You do understand that, no?

The big rounded thing on the left of your schematic was the symbol used for an x-ray tube, so really, no it doesn't make sense.
