Morningstar TS60 diversion controller burned component

Have a Morningstar Corporation TS60 solar charge controller with a burned c omponent on the board, but dont know what it is or where to buy one. There is a D6 next to it printed on the board and there are three of them. The co ntroller will handle 12, 24 or 48 volts. So I am guessing its a diode. Prin ted on the good diodes next to it are BGT 752. Have looked at digikey but c ant seem to find anything. Does anyone know what I should be looking for or where to find a replacement component? Morningstar Corp. Is no help at all , they fix nothing and its just out of warranty. Any help with is would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Gordon

Presume it is a diode. A picture could help, as could some current specs fo r the controller.

The old Motorola MR752 and clones (GI752) are 6A rectifiers; does this picture look like the gizmo?

It might look burned and still be working; the usual failure mode (short circuit) is easy to test with a diode-check or ohms reading on any meter.

Its about 1/4" square and flat. Live in a remote area no electronic specialists near.

It has failed with a burned hole in the component. The two next to it are s till good. That is where I found the BGT 752 if it is a diode the number ju st doesnt seem to be searchable. Open to any suggestions. The specs on the controller are 12, 24 or 48 volts, 60 amps with dip switches to adjust the mode and voltage.

Usually what blows in these charge controllers is the MOSFETs. There may be more wrong with it than just the one with the hole in it.

I would call Morningstar

in PA and see what theire customer support says about it.

still good. That is where I found the BGT 752 if it is a diode the number just doesnt seem to be searchable. Open to any suggestions. The specs on t he controller are 12, 24 or 48 volts, 60 amps with dip switches to adjust t he mode and voltage.

If it's 60A continuous through 3 diodes then each one needs to conduct 20A, and stand off 100v. What we don't know is whether they're schottky or not. Removing the diode, running it at reduced current and measuring the voltag e drop on the remaining diodes would tell you.

Well, can you belive it, i did finally receive a message back fron mornings tar and the part burned is a transorb,The replacement part# is SMCJ70CA and it is searchable through digikey. Will order and change it out to see if it works. Thank you all for your attension and ideas. This forum helps for sure.

Hi Gordon, I also have a morningstar tri-star TS-60 and recently my battery stopped charging. The negative on my ts-60 is showing ZERO volts out on my volt meter. I took teh four screws out from back but looks like more river ts holding the heatsink to the circut board. I am thinking maybe my diode(s ) may be blown in the controller but this is only a guess. Any thoughts?
