Hi I'm trying to build a circuit involving the 74AC04 Hex Inverter, but can't find any. I've found 74LS04 and 74HC04, but unsure which closest matches the AC. Any help appreciated! Ogre

Look for the 74ACT, also. The 74AC is faster than the 74HC and 74LS -- if it needs to be blazingly fast you may need a 74AS. Look at your application, look at data sheets, see if proposed substitutes are fast enough.
Digi-Key has them in stock, if you're in the US.

Why 74AC04? They are evil fast. But if that's what you need...
has them in all shapes, sizes, and manufacturers.
Consider also the AHC family. A little tamer.
Good day!

AHC has a lower drive current. Than the AC and ACT parts.
If you don't need the speed and the drive I'd suggest you try not to design AC parts in. It looks like they may be on the fade. Fairchild's web site no longer has a direct link to them in the logic page and shows them as "mature". "Mature" is what makers call a product when they've lost interest in it but will still sell it as long as it makes money.
BTW: I'd really like ACT speed in an unbuffereed ACT04. Has anyone seen one?
