Exactly. So why be burdened with the trappings of some manner of God when the universe just happens?
I believe it was Pascal who said something similar to what you state above. While having no idea if God really exists he felt it was a better life to believe there was a God and a hereafter. I don't find any comfort in the idea that there is an afterlife. I find no basis for any of the hocus-pocu s and trying to bend my will to thinking and acting as if there were an aft erlife with or without a deity just makes my head hurt.
Good and religious are not at all the same things. God is about religion. Good happens and is largely orthogonal to religion and/or God.
Did a WHOIS on Godaddy for analog-innovations.com and found this... Interesting that the registrant name is "Aaron Thompson of Abstract Data Technologies in Kentucky.

That only makes sense if he'd been born 29 Feb 1940. Echoing the legal chicanery plot device used in the "Pirates of Penzance", afair, to bind the hero to his apprenticeship until attainment of his 21st birthday. :-)
Go to an "atheist support" group where well-to-do urban and suburban white people in their 20s and 30s complain about their atheist-problems to other such people you'll believe in God right quick. Or whatever it takes to get me outtaaaa here!!!
He gave enough clues to his location a couple of years ago that I was able to find his house on Google maps aerial photography. Surely someone here knows where he lives and (perhaps someone else) can drive over and verify his status?
"Fake News". We must surely all know by now that *the* "Golden Rule" is;
"He who has the gold, rules."
This "Golden Rule" whilst initially quoted as a witty observation, does rather neatly encapsulate why Human Civilisation is the way it is (in dire straits and seemingly headed for disaster).
If you regard the United States of America as a representative sample of hu man civilisation, the proposition that the guys who have the gold make the rules may seem obvious.
In fact the way that paid lobbyists rewrite US legislation to favour the gu ys who paid them is an unfortunate aberration.
You can't stop guys with lots of money from having more influence than most , but most legislative systems keep them from having anything like as much influence as they do in the US, by limiting the amount that can be spent on political campaigns, amongst other things.
It's probably inappropriate. He and I weren't the greatest of pals or anything but just as general policy that applies to everyone it's best to not intrude into people's personal/family life.
When the family wishes the "public" to know anything the public will know via the usual channels and not before. common courtesy.
That is to say it's entirely possible everything is fine for the moment but someone just doesn't feel like engaging with the group at this time for whatever reason which is perfectly their right, and if one goes hunting around for answers like it must be the worst has already happened it will be extremely awkward for everyone involved if it's just because they don't feel like talking.
The family are unlikely to be aware of the interest here. I see nothing wrong with a carefully worded message to the son. It is then the family's informed choice of who they wish to know.
I think Jim would appreciate the interest here, assuming he is aware of his surroundings.

I figure people tend to mention the affairs that are important to them they'd like taken care of at these times and if they didn't mention something maybe wasn't that important to them. YMMV, as you like.
If you know where he lives, you can also do a search of his neighbors. Then call a neighbor and ask about the situation. That way you avoid bothering the family.
