Yeah, she's held up reasonably well. I saw Newmar at 80 and she was still recognizable. I think her shoulders probably set her apart from most.

I probably saw Rigg in a Dr Who episode or special -- I can't think of any other venue she'd appear (that I would watch). Looked "matronly".

Here it's often sold as "Fuyu fruit". It's Japanese in origin, and persimmon is clearly not a Japanese name.
Also perhaps of interest; it's very closely related to ebony, and the wood is similar and also highly prized.
