It would have to be called iTransputer, else it wouldn't stand the slightest chance. Sprinkled with lots of media dazzle and people camping out the whole night in the dead of winter in Thief River Falls, to get the first ones out of Digikey.

BULLSHIT. AMPEX did the basic research, then decided not to enter the consumer video market. They sold the rights to Panasonic, JVC and another company in Japan. Sony developed Beta, rather that join the VHS consortium.

Eventually, JVC became the only folks pumping out the transport platforms, regardless of who made the VHS product. Sort of like Canon being the only print engine maker there for a few years.

Things had longer tenure back then.

Now, one can't tell what might be coming out tomorrow.
