Since the core Libertarian concept is smaller government and to get government OUT of people's lives as much as possible, I've got to ask what the heck is a "social Libertarian".
You're a maximal minimalist too I suppose. Or a Christian Atheist?

I'm no expert.
The political compass shows a 2 dimensional rather than a 1 dimensional image of politics. They show economic views as left/right being communism to neo-liberalism and add another axis for authoritarian/libertarian being fascism to anarchism.
Check the link if you want to know more.
As to me, I'm anti big business, anti union, anti unfettered market free marketeer with a hang um and flog um attitude to criminals but legalize drugs/smoking etc but not near me. Or to put it another way I don't like people interfering with my life and have no interest in how you live yours until it annoys me. I think I confused the test at political compass.
Not quite.
If the leftist weenies would just shut up, there'd be nothing for us conservatives to attack ;-)

No, seriously, why do these jerks drool all this AGW blather in sci.electronics.design? It's because they can make their fatheaded "peer reviewed" arguments about something they can't be proven wrong about (nor right about, as far as that goes) and that dances around the expertise of the real engineers here. It gives them a substrate for pretending skill and insulting people they actually envy. If they exposed their ignorance by staying on topic, they'd be shot down in a flash.
Hey, I think I know why my opamps are oscillating, and specifically why the oscillations are so stable, very close to 1 GHz on all the eight channels. One of my engineers thought it was a good idea to run guard traces between channels, so the layout guy ran nice long, maybe
80 mil wide, guard traces between the channels, with one ground via at each end.Duh.

Duh! At GenRad I always specified a zone size for my analog, let the layout guys do their digital stuff outside my zone, then I laid out and dropped in my stuff.

Come off it John, most of those threads are started by Eeyore or another "skeptic", quoting some headline or other. You can't really blame those (few) AGW supporters around here for responding.

There is, but it's one sentence:
Discussions relevant to the design of electronics circuits.
You can obtain the charter for any usenet group from:

Maybe, but it's not as aggressive. Phil's rants leave you convinced that you could actually hear him screaming at the monitor.
Baseball bat + monitor + Phil = I want to see that on Youtube !

Phil's magic that way. He's an artist.

...and I'll argue that "defense" becomes a euphemism when you're no longer on you own soil but are projecting power far across the seas.
Well, we do prefer facts to hysterical panic-mongering.
Thanks, Rich
Of course it appears that way to a left-wing extremist. From the "right"-wingers' POV, we're liberal weenies.
That's just a characteristic of all extremists. There's "US" and "THEM", and since "THEM" disagree with "US", "THEM" will all have to be killed.
It's just so sad that both sides have abandoned their capacity for reason.
Sadder still that both seem to hate Free Will.
Thanks, Rich
No, you must be a liberal weenie:
And in fact, Libertarianism is very similar to anarchy, but in moderation. ;-) Pure anarchy only means "No government". But the fear-mongers on both sides tell you that without them watching over you, telling you when to wipe your ass, that you'll run wild in the streets. If you didn't have Big Brother prying into your life, would _YOU_ RWITS? Can you name one person that you know who _WOULD_?
But, some government is necessary, like a hall of records and a library (which could be in the same building). And there will have to be some way of sharing the costs of building these things.
Other than that, the minimum possible government is best, as that's the way to Freedom, which was the reason our Founding Fathers got together and created America in the first place, wasn't it?
Thanks, Rich
No, you idiot. Taxation is theft. If property is theft, then to whom are we supposed to turn it over? The government? Wouldn't that make them the biggest thief of all?
Gawd, how stupid can you statists get?
Thanks, Rich

Since Newt, the rancor has ratcheted up even further.
