Not new, just as old as anything else; IIRC, similar to C0G but possibly higher density, and a nonzero tempco (which may be useful, who knows?).

It was, but his goal was to explicitly cause an ill effect and see where it happens. It was during the discussion on transductors.

I thought there were large capacitances with that dielectric but there isn't any. So nothing special.
This U2J device isn't really a substitute for X5R or X7R devices. It has a lot lower CV density like C0G. So to get a 0.1 uF bypass device you would need a 1206 size case (EIA).
