Does anyone find these "Call for Papers" posts useful?

Call for Papers

>[. . .]

Wouldn't someone who is interested in these topics KNOW about these things? ...especially someone who is in a position to *submit*?

To give any specifics, shouldn't the OP have *a mailing list of his own* where these announcements would propogate?

Most of the ones that I've seen are basically scams of one type or another. Either someone looking for papers that they can rewrite and publish, or someone putting on a fake conference hoping that they can get someone to sign up and pay for in advance.

Is the ISQED a phony organization?

It might not have a wide following, but perhaps they are trying to develop more interest in their organization.

Its been my experience that companies tend to send junior staff to the less well known conferences and the PHB types to the more popular ones. Its difficult for organizers to get key technical people to some of these.

IEEE is for real but this is the first time i have heard of ISQED, but a quick search finds that is sponsored by IEEE.. Besides most of these conferences are either the academic community talking to itself or big sales shows like MacWorld and CES.
