In an ideal world the null would be very approximately along a line from the feed point to the end of the antenna. In the real world this will be modified by all the components nearby so can't be predicted at all accurately. Avoid anything metallic close to the antenna and don't have thick dielectrics such as the housing right next to it either.
Any antenna needs space around it in order to work properly.
