AMP01 Instrumentation Amp Replacement

Can anyone suggest a lower cost replacement for the AD AMP01 instrumentation amp?

When I started using these as bio-electronic amps, they were under $30. Now they have almost doubled in price, and I expect the trend will continue. Time for a change.

Prefer DIP, and need full available gain of 10,000 in one IC.

There is an AMP02. What about the AD62x series? I've used the AD622, and the AD620 might be a fit. Then there's the AD8xxx upgrades.

Up to what frequency?

If I remember rightly, the unique selling point of the AMP-01 is that it can drive a capacitive load of up to 1uF directly - gain-bandwidth available drops to something pretty pathetic when driving that kind of capacitative load, but at least it doesn't oscillate.

Tell us a bit more about your application - if you can - and the power rails you've got available/would like to use.

Hmm, where are you buying them? All I see are ~$20 each for onesies. Unless you need the ceramic package?

I've used the AD620 and INA121. But never at a gain of 10,000!

Digikey has them for about $22:

Newark has the DIP for $23 and SOIC for $18:

Allied for $30:

I like the INA128, about $8:

The AD620 can't be set for gain over 1000. Same for INA129 which is = drop-in=20 compatible (for the AD620).

The AMP01 seems to be unique. Somebody is selling five pieces on eBay = for=20 about $55 each:

The LT1920 seems like a good part for about $6:

Thanks for the heads-up Paul. last time I did a search in Digikey, only the $49 ceramic came up for some reason.

Better buy a truckload while they're still around.

..

According to the analog website the ceramic and soic are still in production. If you need a lot it's sometimes cheaper to buy from analog directly.
