I just had a somewhat interesting idea to solve the "dust" problem.
I have a room in my appartment which I pretty much never enter. It's
pretty much dust free. (Dust is caused by me).
If I would place my PC there then it would probably collect almost no
dust at all.
The only problem is I would not long cables to my monitor and keyboard
and mouse.
Also holes would be needed somewhere to route the cables.
Another possibility would be wireless... but I don't like that so
much. Energy going through my body no thanks.
Drawbacks would be less control on what my PC is doing.
Also I would still need to enter and exit to turn on the PC... but
this could be done via a keyboard key... though I think this might
require some power.
My first idea was actually a little robot which scrapes of the dust
from the filters ;)
Another idea could be to simply get rid of the filters but this is a
bit risky... dust could build up quickly.
I kinda like the idea of trying to move my PC elsewhere... this would
also get rid of any additonal noise.
Though I also like the idea of listening to my harddisks to know what
the hell it's doing. So that info would no longer be available which
is a bit scary for me. Actually that's a pretty scary idea.. not being
able to hear my harddisks... for obvious reasons of virus/format
attack or stealings ! ;) :)
Another idea could be to leave the screws out 24 for of them... but
that is also a bit scary... definetly not gonna do that...
my hd-information is the most important thing so...
My best solution so far is really simple:
Build a very simple low heat pc in the future which requires very
little airflow ;) and still has decent performance for websurfing,
video viewing and a little bit of gaming.
Bye,
Skybuck.
