Does anyone manufacture a 9 Volt rechargerable battery that will retain a majority of its charge after one year?
** The new Sanyo "Eneloop" ( modified NiMH) cells have a very long shelf life - so much so they are sold in fully charged condition !!
No sign of a 9 volt version yet.
Normal NiMH cells have good charge retention, but not comparable with (non rechargeable) alanines like the Energiser ones.

Do rechargable alkaline ones exist? Do you mean a PP3, or some other size?
Yes , PP3.
Do other sizes exist in 9 Volt?
PP9
What voltage do you need in a 9 volt battery. 7.2, 8.4, or 9.6 ?
greg
8.4 and 9.6
Is there _any_ rechargeable battery that will retain a majority of its charge after one year?
Thanks, Rich
Li-ion. NiCd, at lower temperatures. Sodium/sulphur, ...
- Sanyo's "Eneloop," low self-discharge NiMH (already mentioned) - RayOVac's "Hybrid," also a low self-discharge NiMH.
Both advertise ~80% charge retention after 12 months storage at room temp. AFAIK the Eneloops are only available in Ritz Camera; the RayOVacs are at Walmart.
- Lithium ion cells, of all descriptions.
Cheers, James Arthur
9 Volt?
None that I know of. All the neat new NiMH above are strictly AAA- and AA-size. Sorry.
James Arthur
I suggest the 9V lithium blocks if the capacity is enough to avoid rechargable function.

Thanks for the news, it is better than i expected of NiMH.

Not per cell, you may want / have to make your own battery pack.
