What web forums are best to ask basic EDA & analog questions

I finally have access to a variety of basic student-related analog EDA design tools and would just like to know what web forums are best to ask questions of for mixed-signal {topologies, simulation, testbenches, measurements, parasitic extraction, placement, layout, routing, & physical integration}.

The various tools I'm using for all those tasks are those easily available to students like me.

But, what web forums do you real analog designers suggest I join to start asking the most basic of questions ... which ... at this point, are in the front end of the design phase.

For example, I just ran my very first simulation run, a transient analysis (temperature sweep) of the simple resistor-diode circuit below - and I would like advise on what else I can run on this circuit to learn more about the basics of analog design.

On Usenet, sci.electronics.basics or sci.electronics.design. The sci.electronics.cad group is relatively unused.

WRT web-based forums, I can't really help. Most of the ones I'm familiar with are product-support forums. Perhaps the discussions over at

However, you'll probably enjoy the information and videos over at David Jones's eevblog. Note that there may be some "language" issues, i.e., a "crow" is a "CRO" (o-scope) and not a large black bird. ;-)
