Thunderbird V24 major bug

Thunderbird V24 major bug

When I spend 2 hours chasing what appears to be a bug in a popular program such as Thunderbird, I feel I should warn others, so that they don't follow the same path, and waste their time.

Problem from V24.x.x All of a sudden I'm getting this message while in Account Settings......in fact, I can't do anything (click off of Local Folders) without that message popping up. What could be causing this?

Error Message is: "Local Directory Path Is Not Suitable For Message Storage"

Temporary fix is: Instead of opening the account manager via "Tools" -> "Account Settings", right-click on an account name in the folder pane and choose "Settings..." without getting the error/warning message. Hence I was able to modify the account settings unless I clicked on "Local Folders" where I got the error or warning message again.

works for me, w7pro-64

It is in the mozilla bug report, so sometime in the future, it should be fixed.

I am running TB 24.1.0 on Win 7 64 bit and I don't have this problem.

If your TB is not this version , then try doing an update as the bug looks like it's been fixed .

Unfortunately not. I am running V24.1.1 and just tested for an update. None available, and the bug is still there.

If you read through that thread, you will find that suspect file and path names are enough to chuck the error. You may have files/paths that are considered safe.

I also have an old 10" EEE-PC running XP. Checked and it was running V17. something, and not giving this error.

I just updated it to V24.1.1 and the same error (bug) appears.

BTW. Finding this was a result of my daughter running into the problem on her PC. We we spoke on the phone, I found I had the same bug, and couldn't edit account settings, until I found the in mozillazine help forum.
