Banggood

I got a shock, I ordered a solar panel from them last Tuesday and it arrived today. It would seem that they now have an Australian warehouse.

Cool, maybe they know how to package IC sockets properly too. I ordered some from an Ebay seller but they were loosely placed in single plastic bag and stuffed into a envelope.

None survived in one piece, in fact I'm pretty sure the pins were pre-flattened by the doofus who placed them in the envelope.

I've bought a lot of stuff from them and never had a problem. It was just that stuff sent from China took for ever to arrive.

Yeah I've had that in the past with ICs, resulting in many bent pins. Many do send them in tubes though, I don't think I've had sockets arrive loose like that from China.

Possibly the sellers who only deal in electronic components are better than ones who have Op-Amps listed alongside kitchen utensils and novelty pencil sharpeners. In some cases I've been genuinely impressed by the packaging of electronic parts from China, and I try to stick with those sellers in the future.

First time for me too. Most of the time sockets/IC's they have arrived in plastic tubes. On one occasion the sockets all clicked together in a block, then one extra supplied as the sacrificial one with it legs bent in then tightly wrapped in plastic.

Yeah same, this was a one off and I won't be using them again. Apart from the odd dud-component, a single fake IC or in this case bad packaging I haven't had many issues at all with components from China.

I've ordered some header strips off Banggood, I'll know by Monday if the order was shipped from their AU warehouse or China and if the latter, it'll be a while and I'll be forced to visit Jaycar and pay more for two what I paid for 10 off Banggood.
